₹5,000 Crore National Highway Projects Approved for Rajasthan – Deputy CM Diya Kumari
– ₹17,384 Crore Allocated for Roads in the State Plan
Jaipur – Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari announced that the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has approved new national highway projects worth approximately ₹5,000 crore for Rajasthan. These projects include the four-lane expansion of the Nagaur-Netra Road, construction of Raipur-Jassakheda Road, Gangapur City Bypass, and Karauli Bypass, all to be executed by the Public Works Department (PWD). Additionally, 13 accident-prone black spots will be improved to enhance road safety.
She expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari for their support in approving these projects.
Record ₹12,620 Crore Spent on State Roads Last Year
Deputy CM Kumari highlighted that under Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s leadership, the double-engine government is setting new benchmarks in development. Last year, ₹12,620 crore was spent on the construction of roads, bridges, ROBs (Railway Over Bridges), and RUBs (Railway Under Bridges) under the State Plan, marking the highest expenditure to date.
For this year, the government has significantly increased the road development budget, allocating ₹17,384 crore. The State Plan covers the construction of rural roads, major district roads (MDRs), and state highways, among other infrastructure projects.
CRIF Allocation Hits ₹1,300 Crore – Highest Ever Spending
Under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), Rajasthan spent a record ₹1,300 crore last year on road construction. PWD Additional Chief Secretary Praveen Gupta stated that Deputy CM Diya Kumari’s efforts and effective monitoring ensured that the state secured and utilized the highest cumulative funds under CRIF to date.
