Action Taken Against 3 Illegal Hookah Parlours in Thane City

Mumbai : The Thane Police Department has been consistently cracking down on illegal activities operating behind hookah parlours. Their efforts include covert raids, filing criminal cases, and verifying licenses. Between January 2025 and now, three illegal hookah parlours in Thane city have been raided and criminal cases have been registered under the COTPA (Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act).

Special patrols and undercover checks are being conducted in malls, cafes, and hangout spots that are popular among the youth in Thane. Local police stations have been directed to closely monitor activities at such locations. The Thane Police have adopted a strict ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards such unlawful operations.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Vinay Ghorpade stated that the drive to take action against illegal businesses operating under the guise of hookah parlours will be intensified in the coming days.
