Pu Nityanand Rai, Union Mos For Home Affairs, Visits Siaha

Siaha : Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Pu Nityanand Rai, arrived in Siaha today at around 8:30 AM and was received by government officials at the Siaha Helipad.

The welcome ceremony for the Union Minister was held at the CEM Bungalow. Prior to the felicitation event, the Minister interacted with Siaha District MLAs, MADC leaders, government officials from Mizoram, and leaders of various NGOs in a brief meeting.

The felicitation ceremony held outside the CEM Bungalow was presided over by Pu M Laikaw, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of MADC. In his speech, he described the Minister’s visit to Siaha, a remote area, as a significant moment for the people of the district. He also highlighted the long-standing demand of the MADC for enhanced powers under the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution and urged the Minister to prioritize the matter. The event was marked by a spirit of optimism and hope for future development.

Union Minister Pu Nityanand Rai shared that although the initial plan was to visit yesterday, adverse weather conditions delayed their arrival. He expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and emphasized the government’s commitment to listening to the concerns of the public and working for their well-being. He assured that Prime Minister Narendra Modi holds the northeastern states in high regard and considers their development vital to the nation’s progress. He added that Mizoram, and particularly Siaha District—being a border area—has special importance from a national perspective.

Speaking on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Minister stressed the importance of students learning in their mother tongue. He clarified that NEP 2020 does not aim to impose Hindi but rather promotes linguistic diversity across the country.

On the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), he reassured the public that the law is not intended to target any religious group but to provide safety and security to those facing religious persecution elsewhere. He reiterated the government’s intention to ensure peaceful coexistence among all faiths and ethnicities in India.

Pu Nityanand Rai also urged attendees to recognize the tireless work of Prime Minister Modi in transforming the country. He encouraged everyone to share accurate information and to avoid being misled by misinformation.

Accompanying the Union Minister were Pu Devesh Kumar, Bihar MLA and Mizoram State Prabhari; Pu Vanlalhmuaka, State President of Mizoram Pradesh; and Pu Arjun Singh, Inspector (PA), CRPF. The team departed later in the day toward Lawngtlai.
