‘One City, One Operator’ model by Yogi govt emerges a global example

Lucknow : The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government earned international acclaim at the Global Innovation Summit held in Paris for its progressive water and solid waste management policies. Among the key highlights was the state’s “One City, One Operator” model, which was recognized as a leading example in the field of sewerage management.

The summit also lauded the cutting-edge water management technologies implemented during the Mahakumbh Mela 2025, where over 66 crore devotees were provided with efficient waste and water services.

At the Global Innovation Summit held in Paris, Amrit Abhijat, Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department, highlighted the achievements of the Yogi government on an international platform. Representing Uttar Pradesh, he explained how the “One City, One Operator” model was successfully implemented under CM Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, and how it has now become a model example for sewerage management.

He said that the advanced technologies used during the Mahakumbh 2025 show the government’s strong commitment to large-scale, sustainable urban solutions. These included mobile Fecal Sludge and Septage Management (FSSM) units, SCADA systems for monitoring, Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs), GIS-based sprinklers, and innovative Geotube technology for waste management. These efforts not only kept the Kumbh Mela clean but also helped in protecting the environment.

At the Suez Conference, over 250 delegates from 25 countries praised the Yogi government’s water and waste management model. Several countries even expressed interest in adopting this model in their own regions. This reflects how Uttar Pradesh, under CM Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, is transforming urban infrastructure through technology-driven solutions.

UP’s participation at this global platform also showcased India’s innovation to the world. The Yogi government’s efforts have positioned the state as a knowledge leader in water resource management for both large events and urban populations.

Officials shared that after the presentation, bilateral meetings were held with various countries to explore future collaborations on water management projects.
