Deputy CM Ajit Pawar Inaugurates Pipeline from Janai Lift Irrigation Scheme’s Rising Main to Borkarwadi Lake
Baramati : Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister of the district, Ajit Pawar, inaugurated the pipeline constructed from the Rising Main of the third phase of the Janai Lift Irrigation Scheme to Borkarwadi Lake. On this occasion, he urged citizens to plan their water usage carefully, keeping in mind the declining groundwater levels.
This pipeline project was implemented through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds of Tata Consultancy Services Limited. Present at the event were MSEDCL Chief Engineer Dharmaraj Pethkar, Additional Superintendent of Police Ganesh Biradar, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dr. Sudarshan Rathod, Executive Engineer of the Water Resources Department Digambar Dubal, Tehsildar Ganesh Shinde, Group Development Officer Anil Bagal, Executive Engineer of the Janai Shirsai Scheme Ashok Shete, Sub-Engineer of Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran Rajkumar Jadhav, Pune District Central Bank Director Sambhaji Holkar, Sarpanch of Kutwalwadi-Borkarwadi Rupali Bhosale, Deputy Sarpanch Rani Borkar, and TCS Foundation representative Siddharth Ingle.
Ajit Pawar stated that it is the government’s duty to ensure water supply to the people. A closed pipeline project worth ₹460 crore under the Janai Shirsai Lift Irrigation Scheme is being implemented to ensure this. The newly inaugurated pipeline will significantly benefit residents in the area. He added that under the Purandar Lift Irrigation Scheme, advanced technology will be used to supply water to farmers. Since funds are needed for the maintenance and repair of water supply schemes, he urged citizens to pay their water charges regularly to support the system.
Solar Panels to Be Installed for Lift Irrigation Schemes
In the future, solar panels will be installed for the Janai Shirsai and Purandar lift irrigation schemes. The electricity generated from solar energy will be supplied to MSEDCL, thereby reducing the electricity bills of the scheme, which will ultimately benefit farmers through reduced water charges, Pawar informed.
Deputy CM Reviews Water Supply Projects
Ajit Pawar also reviewed the regional tap water supply scheme for Murti and seven other villages under the National Rural Drinking Water Programme, as well as the regional water supply scheme for Murti and Loni Bhapkar under Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran, including the construction of a lake at Sastewadi. He said this scheme is supplying water to 11 villages in the area and emphasized that MSEDCL should complete feeder-related work on time to ensure uninterrupted water supply. He also instructed officials to prevent leakage from the pipeline and ensure that all public development works—be it roads, water, health, education, or sports—are of high quality, sustainable, and completed on schedule.
Efforts to Provide Permanent Housing to Citizens
A total of 20 lakh houses have been sanctioned across the state, with 5,000 of them allotted to Baramati taluka out of the 30,000 sanctioned in the Pune division. The government is working to provide permanent and rightful housing to economically weaker families through various schemes.
Supa Gram Panchayat’s Development Plan to Be Finalized with Citizens’ Input
To meet the basic needs of citizens, a comprehensive development plan has been prepared, which includes provisions for roads, schools, vegetable markets, cremation and burial grounds, temples, solid waste management centers, MSEDCL facilities, health clinics, APMC yards, housing schemes, playgrounds, and sports fields. This draft plan considers the projected population of Supa village by the year 2046. Citizens’ suggestions and objections will be taken into account during the final hearing, and the finalized plan will reflect their concerns. Pawar assured that fair compensation will be provided to landowners for acquired land and urged public cooperation for smooth implementation.
