Hon’ble Tamil Nadu DCM. Udhayanidhi Stalin Inaugurates Renovated Marina Beach Library with Modern Facilities Worth ₹38.40 Lakhs
Chennai : Hon’ble Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Thiru. Udhayanidhi Stalin today inaugurated the newly renovated Marina Beach Library, upgraded into an air-conditioned facility at a cost of ₹38.40 lakhs.
The Marina Beach Library, functioning under the Chennai City Public Library Committee and located along the Marina shoreline, has been transformed using library funds. The renovation includes a new attractive façade to draw in the large number of visitors who frequent the Marina beach, along with an elevated compound wall to enhance safety.
Inside the compound wall, awareness posters and beautiful murals focusing on the conservation of marine life have been painted to educate the public. The library’s front area features bamboo-style decorative fencing, dual access gates, and a children’s play area equipped with swings.
In an effort to encourage reading habits among children, a dedicated Comics Corner has been set up with an engaging collection of illustrated storybooks. The library houses a total of 7,500 books, including rare volumes with information about Chennai city. It currently serves 1,337 members and 3 patrons.
During the inauguration event, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Thiru. Udhayanidhi Stalin generously donated ₹1,000 each towards the development of the library and welcomed nine individuals as new patrons by presenting them with certificates of recognition.
