Baramati Government Nursing College Receives Initial Affiliation; B.Sc. Nursing Admissions to Begin from Upcoming Academic Year

Another Milestone in Baramati’s Educational Growth Under Deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s Leadership

Baramati – In a significant boost to Baramati’s educational development, the Government Nursing College under the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Government Medical College has received initial affiliation from the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik for the academic year 2025–26. This affiliation paves the way for the launch of the B.Sc. Nursing course, marking another proud achievement under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

Baramati has been emerging as an educational hub in recent years. Post-COVID, the Maharashtra government undertook several strategic initiatives to strengthen the state’s healthcare system. One such decision was the establishment of Government Nursing Colleges across various regions to create a pool of skilled medical professionals. On February 14, 2024, the state Cabinet approved the setting up of nursing colleges at six locations: Baramati, Jalgaon, Latur, Sangli (Miraj), Nandurbar, and Gondia.

After fulfilling all required criteria, the Baramati Government Nursing College has now officially received its first-time affiliation from MUHS for the upcoming academic year. As a result, 100 admissions will be offered in the first year of the B.Sc. Nursing program, opening new avenues in paramedical education for students in and around Baramati. This development is credited to the proactive efforts of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar.

Baramati has already gained prominence as a medical hub, with the Ahilyadevi Holkar Government Medical College fully operational and treating around 500 to 600 patients daily. The fourth batch of the Ayurvedic College is also expected to commence this year. The newly sanctioned Government Nursing College will play a crucial role in serving Baramati and its surrounding regions, offering a government-recognized, quality medical education alternative for local students.

This initiative is especially significant for students from rural areas, who now have access to professional and service-oriented programs like nursing. It also ensures the creation of a dedicated healthcare workforce that will contribute meaningfully to the state’s medical services.
