Quality Cricketers Will Emerge from Panvel Municipal Corporation’s Cricket Training Centre – Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar
Mumbai : The cricket training centre set up by the Panvel Municipal Corporation is exceptionally well-equipped. The Corporation has made a spot-on choice in appointing Dilip Vengsarkar to lead this centre. Under his guidance, quality cricketers will certainly emerge from here. With the support of the Corporation, these players will also gain better opportunities, expressed Minister for Information Technology and Cultural Affairs, Adv. Ashish Shelar.
He was speaking at the grand inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed international-standard cricket training centre at New Panvel, under the Panvel Municipal Corporation. Present on the occasion were former Indian cricket team captain Padma Shri Dilip Vengsarkar, Member of Parliament Shrirang Barne, MLAs Prashant Thakur, Mahesh Baldi, and Vikrant Patil, CIDCO Joint Managing Director Ganesh Deshmukh, Panvel Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Mangesh Chitale, Additional Commissioner Ganesh Shete, President of the Raigad Cricket Association Aniruddha Patil, former Mayor Kavita Chautmol, former CIDCO Chairman Balasaheb Patil, former House Leader Paresh Thakur, and former Opposition Leader Pritam Mhatre, among other dignitaries.
MP Shrirang Barne stated that with guidance from an expert cricketer like Dilip Vengsarkar, this academy will certainly produce excellent players.
Panvel Players Will Represent the Indian Team – Padma Shri Vengsarkar
Padma Shri Dilip Vengsarkar noted that there is significant talent among cricket players in the Panvel region. This training centre will provide them with a grand platform, and in the future, players from here will be seen playing for the Indian national cricket team.
Commissioner and Administrator Mangesh Chitale informed that the international-level training centre has been developed over an area of 7.5 acres at a cost of ₹14.55 crore. It includes a 150-meter diameter cricket ground, a pavilion building, and other necessary facilities. Each year, 101 students aged between 10 and 19 will receive free training. Of these, 50% of the seats are reserved for students from the Panvel Municipal area, 25% for those from the rest of Raigad district, and 25% for students from outside the district. He urged citizens to take maximum advantage of this academy.
