Deliberations on ‘One Nation, One Election’ Theme

Lucknow : A symposium on the theme “One Nation, One Election” was held on Wednesday at Umrao Singh Dharamshala in Daliganj, where the importance, advantages, and long-term impact of electoral reforms were discussed. Residents of the Lucknow North constituency warmly welcomed the initiative.

Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, BJP State General Secretary Sanjay Rai emphasized that frequent elections hinder development, and implementing One Nation, One Election is crucial for building a developed India. He remarked that due to the arrogance of the Congress party, simultaneous Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections were discontinued. Since then, state governments have been dissolved 132 times, marking the beginning of electoral disruptions. He further alleged that non-Congress governments were dissolved for vested interests. In 1967, governments formed in nine states through a pact between the Jan Sangh and Socialist Party were also dissolved by Indira Gandhi. Highlighting current progress, he stated that 32 out of 47 political parties have expressed support for the One Nation, One Election Bill before the Joint Parliamentary Committee.

City BJP President Anand Dwivedi noted that simultaneous elections would help eliminate recurring election cycles. He stressed that it would not only save national resources but also enhance public participation in the electoral process.

Presiding over the event, MLA Dr. Neeraj Bora asserted that One Nation, One Election is not a political agenda but a crucial step toward a Developed India and a Vibrant Democracy. He called it a historic move to build a capable and empowered nation that will make India’s democracy more effective and robust.

On this occasion, city coordinator of the One Nation One Election campaign Ghanshyam Agrawal, Dr. Vivek Singh Tomar, Saurabh Valmiki, Abhishek Khare, Councilor Abhilasha Katiyar, Anurag Sahu, and others were also present.
