Dairy Entrepreneurship Strengthens Sukh Sagar Yadav’s Financial Standing

Raipur : The Chhattisgarh Government’s Livestock Development Department is actively working to make rural livestock farmers self-reliant through the State-Sponsored Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme and the National Artificial Insemination Programme. In alignment with Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai’s vision of strengthening rural livelihoods, these schemes are directly benefiting individuals like Shri Sukh Sagar Yadav from Bagicha block in Jashpur district.

Previously dependent solely on agriculture, Shri Yadav practiced livestock rearing only as a supplementary activity. He owned just one indigenous cow, which produced merely one litre of milk per day—sufficient only for household needs and generating no extra income. In the financial year 2024–25, he received a subsidy of ₹70,000 under the Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme. With this support, he purchased one Jersey cow and one Sahiwal cow—both high-yield breeds.

Currently, Shri Yadav obtains an average of 16 to 18 litres of milk per day. By selling this milk, he now earns between ₹25,000 to ₹30,000 per month. Additionally, with the birth of a high-quality heifer through artificial insemination, he anticipates a further increase in income in the future.

This success story highlights how government schemes are transforming the economic landscape of rural households, enabling farmers like Shri Yadav to build a sustainable and prosperous livelihood through dairy entrepreneurship.
