Following Terror Attack in Anantnag, Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin Ensures Safety Measures for Tamil Students in Jammu & Kashmir

In light of the ongoing tense situation between India and Pakistan, and the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Anantnag district of Jammu & Kashmir, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru M.K. Stalin, has taken swift action concerning the safety of Tamil Nadu students currently studying in the region.

On April 22, 2025, terrorists launched a sudden attack on tourists visiting the Lidder Valley area in Anantnag. Upon receiving information that several individuals from Tamil Nadu were affected, Chief Minister Stalin immediately instructed the Tamil Nadu House in New Delhi to establish a special assistance desk to aid those impacted by the attack. Accordingly, the help desk was set up and made accessible through the numbers 011-24193300 (landline) and 9289516712 (mobile with WhatsApp), operating 24/7 to respond promptly to distress calls.

In the wake of these events and the prevailing border tension, 52 students from Tamil Nadu studying in Jammu & Kashmir have expressed their desire to return home safely. Responding to their request, the Chief Minister directed the Hon’ble Minister for Welfare of Minorities and Non-Resident Tamils, Thiru S.M. Nasar, along with Additional Commissioner (Revenue) Thiru Aftab Rasool, IAS, to coordinate with the Jammu & Kashmir government to ensure the safety of these students.

Due to the suspension of all flight services and the current lack of a secure environment for travel, immediate evacuation is not feasible. However, once the situation stabilizes, appropriate measures will be taken to bring all 52 Tamil students back to Tamil Nadu safely.
