“Inauguration of IAF’s Weapon Systems School marks leap forward in training capabilities.”

The Indian Air Force (IAF) achieved a significant milestone with the inauguration of the Weapon Systems School (WSS) by Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari. The event took place on Monday at the Air Force Station Begumpet in Hyderabad, following the establishment of a new branch of officers in the IAF, known as the Weapon Systems (WS) branch. The creation of the WS branch was announced by Air Chief Marshal Chaudhari during the Air Force Day Parade celebrations on 8th October 2022.

Highlighting the IAF’s commitment to modernizing training, a statement emphasized, “The establishment of this new training facility marks a substantial leap forward for the Armed Forces, particularly the Indian Air Force, in aligning with future needs.”

The WSS will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the WS branch, providing contemporary, effect-based training to prepare officers for the diverse requirements of the IAF. According to the statement, flight cadets in the WS Branch will undergo their second semester of training at this institute. The new branch encompasses four specialized streams.

During interactions, Chief of Air Staff (CAS) ACM Chaudhari emphasized the critical role of instructors within the WS Branch. As pioneers in this field, they form the cornerstone of the envisioned training regime, crucial for delivering decisive air power. The CAS praised the founding members of the School and urged all personnel to work towards establishing it as a premier centre for weapon systems training in the country.
