Water Is the Single Most Vital Element for the Survival of Humans and All Living Beings : CM Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav underscored the importance of water conservation, noting that life itself will be imperilled if water becomes scarce. Although nature provides ample rainwater, he said, safeguarding it has become an urgent necessity. “We must harvest every drop—not only for the present but for future generations—by restoring old water structures and building new ones,” he added.
To this end, Madhya Pradesh launched the Jal‑Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan on 30 March, which will run until 30 June 2025. The campaign focuses on restoring ancient stepwells and ponds. Constructing on‑farm “khet talabs,” check‑dams and other rain‑water‑harvesting structures. Mobilising public participation through jal‑panchayats, wall‑art, school and college activities, and community shramdaan (voluntary labour). Cleaning and strengthening dams, canals and existing water bodies. Planting trees on a large scale. Honouring officials and staff who excel in water‑conservation work.
CM Personally Taking Part in Shramdaan to Encourage Public Participation
Dr Yadav himself has been travelling to districts to take part in shramdaan, encouraging ministers, MPs, MLAs, urban and panchayat representatives, the Jan Abhiyan Parishad and many NGOs to turn the effort into a mass movement.
