Major Action Taken in Surajpur District Against Illegal Mineral Transportation
13 Cases Registered in Bhaiyathan Area
Raipur : The Surajpur district administration has taken strict action against illegal mineral transportation in the Bhaiyathan region. Acting on the instructions of Collector Mr. S. Jayavardhan, a joint team comprising officials from the Mineral, Revenue, and Police Departments conducted raids in the villages of Samauli, Kususi, Karauti, and Basdei on Monday. A total of 13 cases were registered during the operation, including 7 related to illegal sand transport, 5 involving unauthorized brick production, and 1 concerning gravel transportation.

The vehicles seized during the operation have been secured at Jhilimili Police Station and Basdei Outpost. Legal proceedings are being initiated against the respective vehicle owners under the Mineral Rules. According to the administration, 45 cases related to illegal mineral activities have been registered across the district during April and May 2025, reflecting the administration’s ongoing and vigilant monitoring efforts.
Collector Mr. Jayavardhan has directed the district-level task force to remain fully active in curbing illegal mining and transportation. He emphasized that preventing losses to mineral revenue is a key government priority, and any negligence in this regard will not be tolerated. He further stated that approved mining operations must be conducted strictly according to the environmental clearance conditions, and timely collection of mineral revenue must be ensured. He also stressed that mining and transport activities should only be conducted through authorized sources, and stringent action must be taken against any supply from illegal sources.
