VC Prakash Babu Awards Kabaddi Trophy, Unveils Tech at PU

Pondicherry University Community College conducted the Chief Minister’s Kabaddi Inter Collegiate Tournament recently for the first time in Puducherry Union Territory. Over 20 Colleges with both men and women teams participated in the tournament. The prize distribution function was held at Pondicherry University Community College. The Principal in charge of the College Prof Lalitha Ramakrishnan welcomed the dignitaries and the student gathering and Dr. S. Jagadeeswari, the organiser of the sports events briefed about the activities. The Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University, Prof. Phanithi Prakash Babu distributed the trophies and medals to the winners of the kabaddi tournament and all the sports and athletic events.

The MLA of Kalapet Constituency Shri P.M.L. Kalyanasundaram and the MLA of Lawspet Constituency Shri M. Vaithiyanathan were the special guests for the event. The college also conducted several sports and athletic events as part of sports day celebrations for which the students bagged prizes. Bharathidadasan Government College for Women’s are the winners of the women’s team and Pondicherry University Community College are the winners of Men’s Team for the championship of Kabaddi Tournament.

Pondicherry University Community College has been hosting a number of flagship events in the recent times and has been a pioneer in technology as well. The admissions for the Academic Year 2025-26, completely made online which was launched by the MLA of Lawspet, Shri M. Vaithiyanathan in the web portal www.pucc.edu.in. The Alumni Portal of the college was opened by Prof. P. Prakash Babu, Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University. The advanced version of the college library’s SOUL 3.0 software was also inaugurated in the function.

Added to this, the DST-SERB Project of “Internet of things under smart city” which offers facilities for monitoring water, power consumption, garbage and pollution levels through an app at Community College and Pondicherry University was inaugurated in a grand way by the Vice-Chancellor. The project shall result in great saving of energy and water, informed the Principal Investigator Dr. Sabout Nagaraju, Associate Professor from the Department of Computer Science. Dr.R.Murugesan,Head of the Department of Physical Education and Yoga delivered vote of thanks while Prof D. Sultana, Dean, School of Humanities, Pondicherry University felicitated the students.

The function ended with jubilant students walking away with medals, trophies and certificates.
