24 Litres of Illicit Liquor and 21.14 Litres of Foreign Liquor Seized; One Truck Confiscated
Raipur : In an ongoing crackdown on illegal liquor in Balrampur-Ramanujganj district, the local administration continues its efforts to prevent the manufacture, transport, and sale of illicit alcohol. Under the guidance of Collector Rajendra Katara, the Excise Department team conducted raids and seized illegal liquor worth ₹15,200 and one truck in three separate cases.
In a raid carried out in Mahua Dih village, under the Shankargarh police station limits, 16 litres of illicit homemade Mahua liquor was seized from Sumita Das, and 8 litres from Shailendra Das.
In another incident, during vehicle checks at the Dhanwar Check Post in Wadrafnagar block, authorities seized 21.14 litres of foreign liquor and beer from a truck. The alcohol was labelled as “for sale in Uttar Pradesh only.”
All accused have been booked under the Excise Act and sent to judicial custody.
District Excise Officer Shri Suryavanshi stated that action is ongoing against individuals involved in the production, sale, and transportation of illegal liquor, as well as those consuming alcohol in public places. He also mentioned that strict surveillance is being maintained on hotels, roadside eateries, and highway liquor-serving outlets.
