We Will Fully Support the Development of Ichalkaranji and Surrounding Areas – CM Devendra Fadnavis
Ichalkaranji (Kolhapur) – The state government is committed to urban development and is dedicated to giving due consideration to all proposals submitted by elected representatives. In line with this policy, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured that full support will be extended for the development of Ichalkaranji. He made this announcement while inaugurating, launching, and dedicating various development projects worth over ₹713 crore in the Ichalkaranji Assembly constituency.
Present on the occasion were Public Health and Family Welfare Minister and Kolhapur Guardian Minister Prakash Abitkar, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant (Dada) Patil, MPs Dhananjay Mahadik and Dhairyasheel Mane, MLAs Rahul Awade, Ashokrao Mane, and Shivajirao Patil, former minister Prakash Awade, Special IG Dr. Shashikant Mahurkar, District Collector Amol Yedge, Superintendent of Police Mahendra Pandit, CEO S. Karthikeyan, Ichalkaranji Municipal Commissioner Pallavi Patil, and Sub-Divisional Officer Mosami Chougule. The Guardian Minister and District Collector presented CM Fadnavis with an image of Karveer Nivasini Shri Ambabai.
The Chief Minister also unveiled the foundation stone of the Shahapur Police Station and inspected the new building.
CM Fadnavis stated that all development proposals for Ichalkaranji and the surrounding region will receive swift approval. He officially announced the online inauguration and launch of projects worth over ₹713 crore for the constituency.
Highlights of these projects include:
- ₹130.60 crore under the UIDSSMT (Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns) by the Central Government for an underground drainage system in the extended Kabnur and Shahapur areas, and the inauguration of an 18 MLD sewage treatment plant.
- ₹488.67 crore under the Nagarothan Mega Mission for strengthening and expanding the existing underground drainage network.
- ₹31.37 crore under the Maharashtra Suvarna Jayanti Nagarothan Maha Abhiyan for constructing six water tanks across the city, installation of pumping machinery and pressure pipelines.
- ₹59 crore for 10 road development projects under the Chief Minister’s Rural Road Scheme.
- ₹4 crore for the inauguration of the new Shahapur Police Station.
- Inauguration of a nursing college at the Indira Gandhi General Hospital.
Additionally, approval letters were distributed to 4,200 beneficiaries under the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Grant Scheme and the Shravan Bal State Pension Scheme. A symbolic distribution of utensils and other materials was also initiated for 5,000 construction workers.
After the event, CM Fadnavis visited Shri Arya Chanakya Urban Co-operative Credit Society for a goodwill meeting.

Earlier, CM Fadnavis was welcomed at the Kolhapur Airport by Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, Guardian Minister Prakash Abitkar, Chairman of the Jain Economic Development Corporation Lalit Gandhi, MPs Dhananjay Mahadik and Amal Mahadik, MLAs Ashokrao Mane, Rahul Awade, Shivajirao Patil, Special IG Dr. Shashikant Mahurkar, District Collector Amol Yedge, CEO S. Karthikeyan, and SP Mahendra Pandit. Collector Amol Yedge presented him with a Kolhapur Tourism Booklet as a welcome gesture.
