CM Devendra Fadnavis Directs Authorities to Stay Alert and Ready to Assist Citizens Amid Heavy Rains — Immediate Damage Assessments Ordered
Mumbai : Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is continuously monitoring the rain-related developments across Maharashtra. He has instructed the entire administrative machinery to remain on alert mode and be fully prepared to assist citizens. He has also directed officials to conduct immediate panchnamas (damage assessments) in areas where damage has occurred. CM Fadnavis is in constant communication with the state’s Chief Secretary and the Disaster Management Cell.
The Chief Minister has been updated by various departments about the current situation. Heavy rainfall has been reported in Pune, Satara, Solapur, Raigad, Mumbai, and MMR regions. Specific rainfall figures include 117 mm in Daund, 104.75 mm in Baramati, and 63.25 mm in Indapur. In Baramati, partial damage was reported to 25 homes, and seven individuals stranded in floods were rescued. Around 70 to 80 families have been relocated to safer locations. Mobile services, which were disrupted temporarily, are now being restored. In Indapur, two people were rescued from a flood situation. Phaltan recorded 163.5 mm of rainfall, with one NDRF team deployed there. Thirty citizens stranded near Dudhebavi village have been provided with shelter and food.
Solapur received 67.75 mm of rain. In Malsiras taluka, six people trapped by floodwaters were safely relocated. In Pandharpur, three individuals were stuck in the Bhima riverbed and a rescue operation is underway. In Raigad, one person died due to lightning, and the Mahad-Raigad Fort road has been closed due to heavy rainfall.
Mumbai recorded 135.4 mm of rainfall in 24 hours. There were six complaints of waterlogging and 18 incidents of short circuits. Five cases of partial building wall collapses were also reported. The Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Fire Brigade, Police, and all related departments are fully prepared. No casualties have been reported. Five NDRF teams are stationed in Mumbai and ready to respond to any emergency.
The Meteorological Department has forecast more rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds over the next 24 hours in Mumbai. Against this backdrop, CM Fadnavis has instructed the Chief Secretary and all disaster management agencies to remain alert and fully prepared. He has directed NDRF, SDRF, fire services, revenue and home departments to maintain readiness for emergency responses through control rooms. He also emphasized the need for continuous coordination with the Water Resources Department.
