Chief Minister’s Chaupal Under the Gulmohar Tree : CM Lands in Kanakbira Village of Sarangarh-Bilaigarh District

Heartfelt Interaction with Villagers; Announces Bridge, Community Hall, Girls’ Hostel & Panchayat Bhawan
Raipur : Under the vibrant shade of a Gulmohar tree, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai held a heartfelt Chaupal (public meeting) with villagers in Kanakbira, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh district. As part of the final phase of the Sushasan Tihar (Good Governance Festival), his helicopter landed near the pre-matric boys’ hostel in the village. The Chief Minister personally interacted with the locals, reviewed the implementation of government schemes, and shared his vision for a more prosperous rural Chhattisgarh.

Speaking in an informal and familial tone, CM Sai said, “It is my good fortune to meet all of you today. Being among you feels like being with family.” Explaining the purpose of Sushasan Tihar, he outlined its three phases—accepting public applications, resolving grievances, and now, reaching villages to engage directly with citizens. “This is not just a report card of our work in the past one-and-a-half years, but also a chance to evaluate the impact of our welfare schemes,” he added.

CM Sai highlighted key achievements of his government, including the approval of 18 lakh homes under PM Modi’s housing guarantee, procurement of 21 quintals of paddy per acre at ₹3100 per quintal, and financial empowerment of over 70 lakh women through direct cash transfers under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana. He assured that every deserving family listed under Awas Plus would receive housing, and all eligible beneficiaries would be included in government schemes. He also announced the increase in tendu leaf collection price from ₹4000 to ₹5500 and spoke of the Ram Lalla Darshan Yojana and the revived Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana enabling families to visit pilgrimage sites of their choice.

Further, the CM spoke of the newly launched Atal Digital Seva Kendras in 1,460 gram panchayats, bringing banking and digital services closer to rural communities. He assured that technology is being harnessed to eliminate corruption and streamline processes, such as simplifying land registry and mutation procedures. He also mentioned action taken against irregularities in PSC recruitments and committed to fair and transparent hiring in the future.

During his surprise visit to Kanakbira, the Chief Minister conversed with villagers in the local Chhattisgarhi dialect. He inquired about power supply, ration distribution, and disbursement of Mahtari Vandan funds. He reviewed the drinking water supply under the Jal Jeevan Mission and encouraged farmers to diversify crops by cultivating maize, urad, and moong alongside paddy.

In a significant development push, CM Sai announced the construction of a culvert on the Nargi Khol-Laat stream, a Mangal Bhavan (community hall), a girls’ hostel in Kanakbira, and a new panchayat building in Godam village.

In a touching moment during the Chaupal, the CM noticed former MLA Shamsher Singh sitting on the ground and invited him to sit beside him, recognizing his contributions to social work and temple construction in the region. Similarly, 85-year-old Bhagirathi Sahu, who had walked to the meeting with a stick, received a warm gesture as CM Sai draped his safa (turban) around Sahu’s neck in a mark of respect.

Before concluding his visit, CM Sai offered prayers at the village’s Durga temple, wishing for the prosperity, peace, and good health of all residents of Chhattisgarh. He reassured villagers that the government stands firmly with every individual in need, with public welfare remaining its highest priority.
