Heavy Rains: NDRF and SDRF Teams Deployed for Relief and Rescue Operations
Mumbai – In view of the disaster situation caused by ongoing heavy rains across the state, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have been deployed for relief and rescue operations. According to Disaster Management Director Satishkumar Khadke, two NDRF teams have been stationed in Mumbai, and one team each in Raigad, Thane, Palghar, Ratnagiri, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Sindhudurg districts. Additionally, one SDRF team each has been deployed in Gadchiroli and Nanded districts.
9.33 Million SMS Alerts Sent
On May 28, 2025, a total of 17 alerts were issued through the Sachet app. These alert messages were sent to 9.33 million citizens to warn and prepare them for potential disasters.
Rescue of 39 Citizens in Ahilyanagar District
In Ahilyanagar district, severe flooding occurred in villages including Akolner, Khadki, Walki, Sonewadi Road, and Shiradgaon in Ahilyanagar Taluka. A total of 39 people stranded in the floodwaters were safely rescued and relocated by teams from the Indian Army, Fire Department, and Municipal Administration.
Mr. Khadke informed that the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for the next 24 hours for the districts of Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Washim, Yavatmal, Wardha, Nagpur, and Gondia.
In the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall was recorded in the following districts: Buldhana (47.9 mm), Akola (46 mm), Jalna (44.6 mm), Yavatmal (39.7 mm), and Ratnagiri (35.7 mm).
From May 27 to 28, 2025 (up to 4:00 PM), 14 people and 20 animals have lost their lives across the state due to incidents such as wall collapses, falling trees, lightning strikes, drowning, fires, and floodwaters. Additionally, 16 people and one animal were reported injured.
