Amend Bylaws if Needed for Conservation and Restoration of Shekhawati Havelis: Deputy CM and Tourism Minister Diya Kumari

Jaipur : A meeting was held on Thursday in the conference hall of the Deputy Chief Minister’s office at the Government Secretariat, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Diya Kumari, to discuss the conservation and restoration of the Shekhawati region’s havelis.

On this occasion, the Deputy CM directed that if necessary, amendments should be made to existing bylaws to facilitate the conservation and restoration of Shekhawati’s heritage havelis.

Diya Kumari instructed that a comprehensive documentation process be initiated. So far, 267 havelis in Jhunjhunu district, 268 in Sikar district, and 113 in Churu district have been identified. She emphasized the need to compile a complete and accurate record of these structures. District Collectors of Sikar, Jhunjhunu, and Churu have been directed to prepare a final document by collecting ownership details and including photographs showing the current condition of each haveli.

She also emphasized that encroachments on these havelis must be strictly prevented, and instructed the district collectors of all three regions to remain vigilant.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary of Local Self Government Rajesh Kumar Yadav, Additional Director of the Department of Tourism Anand Tripathi, Director of the Archaeology and Museums Department Pankaj Dharendra, and Joint Director (Development) of the Tourism Department Rajesh Sharma. District collectors of Jhunjhunu, Churu, and Sikar joined the meeting via video conferencing, along with subject experts working in the region.
