Proper Power Management During Rabi Season – No Shortage Will Be Allowed Even in Summer: Energy Minister
Jaipur : Minister of State for Energy (Independent Charge), Shri Heeralal Nagar, stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma, the state government is working toward making Rajasthan a surplus state in the energy sector. He emphasized that during the Rabi season, the state managed the power supply effectively, ensuring no shortage of electricity. He expressed confidence that even in the summer season, officials from all power corporations — production, transmission, and distribution — would work in full coordination to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to consumers.
Shri Nagar was reviewing the performance of the Energy Department on Thursday at Vidyut Bhawan. He urged for faster implementation of schemes such as RDSS, smart metering, and PM-KUSUM free electricity. He directed that areas with high power loss should focus on strengthening infrastructure, implementing feeder separation, and launching vigilance drives to effectively curb electricity theft.
The minister mentioned that MoUs have been signed with various Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) to meet the state’s energy needs. He instructed that these MoUs be implemented in a phased and timely manner to ensure future energy demands are met.
Shri Nagar also reviewed the progress of grid substation (GSS) construction announced in the state budget. He directed that processes like land selection and other formalities be completed promptly to accelerate construction and further strengthen the transmission system in the state.
During the meeting, Managing Director of Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation, Shri Om Kasera, informed that the power supply system is stable across the state. Considering the heatwave warnings for May and June, adequate arrangements have already been made to meet electricity demand, and no power cuts are being implemented due to the sufficient availability of electricity.
Managing Director of the Transmission Corporation, Shri Nathmal Diddell, reported that through effective monitoring, GSS construction is being completed in mission mode. In the past one and a half years, a total of 30 GSSs (400 kV, 220 kV, and 132 kV) have been established. Additionally, 133 GSS projects are currently underway, with instructions given to complete them within the stipulated timeframe.
CMD of the Generation Corporation, Shri Devendra Shringi, shared that MoUs for renewable and thermal energy projects have been signed with 11 Central PSUs, including NTPC, Coal India, and NLC, where joint venture agreements have already been executed, and company formations are in progress. Notably, NTPC Rajasthan Green Energy Limited has been formed in collaboration with NGEL, and the company plans to invest ₹1 lakh crore to establish 25 GW of renewable energy capacity in the state.
MDs of Jodhpur and Ajmer DISCOMs also joined the meeting via video conferencing.
