Yogi govt to build Chitrakoot Link Expressway at a cost of Rs 514 crore in 18 months

Lucknow : In a major push to enhance connectivity and accelerate regional development, the Yogi government is all set to construct the Chitrakoot Link Expressway—a greenfield expressway project that will directly connect Chitrakoot to the Bundelkhand Expressway. The project aims to further cement Uttar Pradesh’s reputation as the “Expressway State” of India.

Acting on the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has finalized the blueprint for this ambitious project. The expressway, estimated to cost over Rs 514 crore, is slated for completion within 18 months.

The Chitrakoot Link Expressway will span 15.175 kilometers and will initially be built as a four-lane road with future expansion capacity to six lanes. Once completed, the expressway will significantly boost Chitrakoot’s connectivity and offer seamless integration with the existing Bundelkhand Expressway.

Designed to meet high standards of modern infrastructure, the expressway is expected to benefit not only local commuters but also tourists and pilgrims visiting Chitrakoot. It will provide world-class travel facilities and help establish superior transportation standards in the region.

The construction of the expressway will include building carriageways, an advanced drainage system, modern lighting, lane markings, 10-meter-high poles in approach areas, 30-meter-high mast lights, and pavements. It will also include sections with small bridges, flyovers, overpasses, and underpasses.

In addition, different types of signs will be installed, including curb markings, two-way hazard markers, object hazard markers, distance markers, and kilometer markers. Other work will include installing traffic signs, kilometer and hectometer boards, overhead signs, and barbed wire fencing. All construction and development will be done in EPC mode.

To ensure the expressway is built with high and international standards, multiple levels of inspections and quality checks will be carried out. A quality control mechanism will be applied to keep the construction work of the Chitrakoot Link Expressway up to the mark. Regular monitoring will take place, and only top-quality materials will be used. UPEIDA has already prepared the blueprint. The next steps, like the master plan and detailed project report, are expected to begin in July.

It is worth mentioning that this expressway will be designed in such a way that vehicles will be able to run comfortably at a speed of 120 km per hour. The carriageway will be 40 meters wide and the expressway will be connected to a service road with 3.75 meter carriageway at various sections. Also, a 200 meter long and 7 meter wide service road will also be constructed near the bridges

Additionally, wayside amenities like toll plazas, toilet blocks, and truck parking areas will be developed on both sides of the expressway for the convenience of travelers.
