World Environment Day : CM Shri Bhupendra Patel Initiates AMC’s ‘Mission Four Million Trees’ Campaign with Tree Plantation

Gandhinagar : On the occasion of ‘World Environment Day’, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel inaugurated Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s Mission Four Million Trees’ campaign with a tree plantation in Ahmedabad. The Chief Minister also initiated the development of ‘Sindoor Van’ in AMC’s Chandlodia ward by planting a Sindoor tree sapling.

Notably, a ‘Sindoor Van’ comprising 551 Sindoor trees is being developed in the Chandlodia ward in memory of the civilians who lost their lives in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, and in honour of the Indian Army’s ‘Operation Sindoor’.

Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel flagged off a special tableau and 11 tree chariots as part of the ‘Mission Four Million Trees’ campaign. To further encourage public participation in tree plantation, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation plans to prepare around 38 tree chariots under ‘Ek Ped Maa ke Naam’ and ‘Mission Four Million Trees’ campaigns.

The Chief Minister also awarded bicycles to the five winners of the environment-themed drawing competition organised by the Air Quality Management Cell.

Aiming to expand the city’s green cover, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has initiated the ‘Mission Four Million Trees’ campaign, targeting the planting of 40 lakh trees. Under this programme, AMC’s tree chariots will visit citizens’ homes to plant trees free of cost. To encourage participation, the Corporation has launched a toll-free number, and citizens can also join the initiative through the AMC Seva app. This initiative aims to lower the city’s temperature and reduce pollution levels in the coming days. Additionally, the oxygen parks established by AMC continue to play a vital role in increasing the green cover and enhancing the well-being of residents.

The event saw the presence of Mayor Smt Pratibha Jain, Lok Sabha MP Shri Dinesh Makwana, Municipal Commissioner In-charge Shri Rajkumar Beniwal, MLAs Shri Amit Shah, Shri Harshad Patel, Shri Jitendra Patel, Shri Hasmukh Patel, Shri Amit Thaker, and Shri Kaushik Jain, Deputy Mayor Shri Jatin Patel, Standing Committee Chairman Shri Devang Dani, municipal councillors, AMC officials and staff, representatives of the Samast Vaishnav Vanik Parivar (SVVP), students, and residents.
