Festive Launch of ‘Vande Ganga Water Conservation Public Campaign’ in Udaipur

“Our Ancestors Preserved Water, That’s Why We Have It; If We Preserve It Today, Future Generations Will Learn” — Revenue and Colonization Minister

Jaipur: On Thursday, under the initiative of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the ‘Vande Ganga Water Conservation Public Campaign’ was festively launched at Doodh Talai, Udaipur by district in-charge and Revenue & Colonization Minister Hemant Meena, on the occasion of Ganga Dashami and World Environment Day. The campaign aims to promote water and environmental conservation, build a water self-reliant and green Rajasthan, and raise public awareness about water harvesting.

From district to village levels, public participation was mobilized to clean water sources, perform Ganga Puja, Peepal worship, and organize Kalash processions, spreading the message of water conservation.

Resolution Pledged Through Ganga Puja

Minister Meena formally performed Ganga Puja at the garden complex beside Doodh Talai and inaugurated the Kalash procession. The procession reached the main chhatri at Doodh Talai ghat, where all guests including the minister performed Ganga Puja. Before this, the minister took a pledge from everyone for water conservation and environmental protection.

The event at Doodh Talai ghat was jointly organized by the district administration, municipal corporation, Rajivika, and Water Resources Department, with the presence of Principal Secretary of Mines & Petroleum and district in-charge secretary T. Ravikant, MP Dr. Manalal Rawat, Udaipur Rural MLA Phool Singh Meena, Divisional Commissioner Pragya Kevelramani, District Collector Namit Mehta, and others.

Water Conservation Will Be Achieved Through Public Participation

In his address, Minister Hemant Meena said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the government is turning water conservation into a mass movement. The ‘Vande Ganga’ campaign is a historic step in this direction. He appealed to the public to actively participate in cleaning water sources, rainwater harvesting, and preserving traditional water streams. He stressed that life cannot be imagined without water. Our ancestors understood the importance of water and constructed ponds and lakes for its conservation. Their foresight benefits us even today. It is our responsibility to conserve water now so that future generations also learn this valuable lesson.
