CM Dhami Reviews Development Projects in Nainital, Announces Key Infrastructure Initiatives at DSA Ground
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami arrived in Nainital on Friday for a two-day visit, where he conducted on-site inspections of various development works and made several major announcements aimed at improving infrastructure and public amenities in the region.
On the first day of his visit, CM Dhami inspected the ongoing beautification and redevelopment works under the Manaskhand Mandir Mala Yojana, worth ₹1101 crore, in Mallital. He also inaugurated 12 newly developed shops under this project. At the DSA Ground, the Chief Minister made several significant declarations.
Among them was the improvement of the pedestrian paths at Dhunighat and Ratighat, and the upgrade of the Shaheed Sanjay Bisht Motor Road (from Kainchi Haratpahadi to Titoli). Strengthening of several stretches of State Highway No. 71 (Ramnagar–Bhandarpani–Amgadi–Bhaurakot–Betalghat–Bhujan–Richi–Billekh) was also announced.
CM Dhami declared that the DSA Ground would be developed as a Model Sports Centre for national-level competitions and training. Additional infrastructure announcements included the construction of alternative parking facilities in Nainital, the installation of a hockey turf and boxing ring at the Flats Ground (which will be reserved solely for sports and cultural events), and the redevelopment of the Nainital bus terminal with lightweight structures to reduce congestion and improve public transport.
To address traffic issues, road safety surveys will be conducted at major locations and water logging points will be reduced. The Chief Minister also announced the creation of dedicated vending zones for local vendors, desilting of Naini Lake, and replacement of old railings.
At the DSA Ground, CM Dhami inaugurated a basketball court, distributed sports kits to athletes, and honoured district and international medal winners. During the felicitation ceremony, he acknowledged athletes including Latika Bhandari, Bhoomika Jantwal, Nitesh Bisht, Nirmal Bisht, Ansh Bisht, Kanishk Joshi, Surya Patel, Bhargavi Rawat, Shraddha Joshi, Komal, Navya Pandey, and Vaibhav Singh Padiyar, along with SDM Nawazish Khalique.
Participants of the Late N.K. Arya Memorial Cricket Tournament were also awarded.
In his speech, CM Dhami shared updates on the ongoing sewer line and STP work in Nainital. Given the growing tourist influx, the government has approved automated parking systems, and expansion of Ashok Parking and construction of Metro Parking will begin soon, with Central Government approval in place.
He added that beautification of the Maa Naina Devi Temple under the Manaskhand Corridor is underway, and ₹12 crore has been sanctioned for the same. The volleyball track inaugurated at the children’s request was also highlighted.
CM Dhami stated that these development efforts will significantly benefit both residents and tourists by enhancing accessibility and infrastructure, accelerating Nainital’s overall growth.
The event was attended by Union Minister of State for Road Transport Ajay Tamta, MLAs Sarita Arya, Fakir Ram Arya, Ram Singh Kaida, and other dignitaries including Commissioner Deepak Rawat, DM Vandana Singh, IG Ridhim Aggarwal, SSP P.M. Meena, ADM Vivek Rai, and PRO P.R. Chauhan.
