Departmental Review to Ensure Quality and Transparency in Anganwadi Services: Secretary Shammi Abidi Holds Meetings with Districts of Raipur, Bilaspur, and Durg Divisions

Raipur : Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department, Mrs. Shammi Abidi, conducted a state-level review meeting today at the Ministry’s Mahanadi Bhawan, focusing on departmental activities across districts of Raipur, Bilaspur, and Durg divisions. The meeting involved a detailed evaluation of various schemes, implementation progress, and the overall condition of Anganwadi Centres in these regions.

Mrs. Abidi instructed all District Programme Officers and District Women & Child Development Officers to carry out regular field inspections of rural Anganwadi Centres and to submit reports based on ground realities. She emphasized that basic infrastructure needs—such as drinking water, electrification, sanitation, and building repairs—must be fulfilled in a timely manner.

Discussing the construction status of sanctioned Anganwadi buildings, she directed that incomplete projects be expedited and necessary repairs be undertaken without delay. She also laid special emphasis on the timely payment of electricity bills at Anganwadi centres and reviewed the financial utilization of funds allocated under contingency expenditure.

The Secretary directed that materials be procured in advance of the monsoon for Anganwadi centres under construction as part of the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana. The meeting also reviewed the physical condition of buildings under the MGNREGA convergence initiative.

Mrs. Abidi further instructed prompt completion of technical processes such as district-wise nutritional food availability, e-KYC of beneficiaries, and Aadhaar mapping, in line with guidelines issued by the Government of India.

The review meeting was attended by Mr. P. Elma, Director of the Women and Child Development Department, senior officials from the Directorate, and Programme Officers and District Women & Child Development Officers from all concerned districts.
