Over 50,000 small farmers receive Rs 1,000 crore in loans as Yogi govt opens new avenues for rural employment

Lucknow : In a major push towards rural economic empowerment and agricultural growth, the Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh has extended long-term loans exceeding Rs 1,000 crore to more than 50,000 small and marginal farmers over the last four years. The initiative is not only enhancing agricultural productivity, but also acting as a catalyst for self-employment and capital formation in the state’s villages.

The Yogi government has ushered in a new chapter of green revolution in Uttar Pradesh, focusing on making farming more profitable by ensuring access to long-term institutional credit. This credit is enabling farmers to invest not just in cultivation, but also in agriculture-based self-employment ventures such as dairy, animal husbandry, and horticulture, significantly boosting rural economic activities.

These efforts are freeing farmers from the clutches of traditional moneylenders and exploitative interest rates. The transparent and farmer-centric nature of the state’s loan schemes has strengthened trust in formal financial institutions, especially in underserved rural areas.

Through the Mukhyamantri Krishak Samriddhi Yojana, the state government has launched a sustained campaign to raise farmers’ incomes. In regions where commercial banks had limited presence, the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Gram Vikas Bank stepped in, offering crucial long-term credit support. This bank has become a backbone for agricultural development in such regions, bridging the rural credit gap.

The government’s employment-oriented schemes, backed by long-term loans, are creating new self-employment avenues for rural youth. By facilitating access to credit for income-generating activities, the state is accelerating the pace of rural transformation and opening new doors to prosperity in villages.
