Rising Temperatures Likely Until June 14; Isolated Thunderstorms Expected in Some AreasFarmers Advised Not to Rush Sowing Activities
Mumbai : The progress of the monsoon across Maharashtra has remained stalled for nearly two weeks and is expected to stay delayed at least until June 15. As a result, an increase in temperatures is predicted across various regions of the state (excluding the western coastal belt) until June 14.
High temperatures are expected particularly in Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Khandesh regions. In eastern Vidarbha, maximum temperatures may rise up to 45°C, while most parts of Vidarbha are likely to record temperatures above 40°C. Similarly, in many areas of Marathwada and Khandesh, maximum temperatures are expected to hover around 40°C.
No widespread or significant monsoon rainfall is anticipated in the state until June 14. Rainfall, if any, will be isolated and mainly occur in the afternoons, accompanied by thunder in some areas. The likelihood of such rain is higher in parts of South Marathwada and South Central Maharashtra during the early part of this week. Scattered rainfall may be observed in other regions of the state.
Given the prevailing high temperatures and the absence of consistent monsoon rainfall, the Agriculture Department has advised farmers—particularly those in rainfed regions—not to rush into sowing or plantation activities.
