Udhayanidhi Stalin Disburses ₹34.19 Lakh from Tamil Nadu Champions Foundation for Sports Equipment and Training
Hon’ble Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Thiru Udhayanidhi Stalin has sanctioned financial grants and distributed sports equipment worth ₹34.19 lakh from the Tamil Nadu Champions Foundation Fund.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu is actively working towards transforming the state into the sports capital of India. As part of this mission, the Tamil Nadu Champions Foundation has been established to support athletes by providing them with sports gear, financial assistance to participate in international competitions, and specialized training programs.
On 9th June 2025, Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin handed over financial aid and equipment under this initiative:
- Shooter Ms. C. Madhumitha received ₹1,74,000 and sports gear for her shooting practice.
- Shooter Mr. T. Senthil Kumar was granted ₹4,65,450.
- Javelin thrower Mr. S. Nitish received ₹1,49,555.
- Cyclist Ms. C. Nirmathi received advanced cycling equipment worth ₹9.50 lakh.
- Cyclist Ms. C.P. Dhanyatha received ₹10 lakh for special training in Australia to prepare for international competitions.
- Cricketers Ms. S. Johana and Ms. S. Sanaka were granted ₹90,000 each for advanced cricket training programs.
- ₹5 lakh was sanctioned to Tamil Nadu Cycling Association for organizing the Tamil Nadu Cycling League.
In total, ₹34.19 lakh worth of financial support and sports equipment was distributed to athletes through the Tamil Nadu Champions Foundation.
Notably, cyclist C. Nirmathi won a bronze medal in the Asian Championship held in Malaysia in February 2025 and also secured bronze in both individual and team events at the Khelo India Track Cycling Tournament in Delhi in April 2025.
The event was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Youth Welfare & Sports Development) Mr. Atulya Misra, IAS, and Member Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority Mr. C. Bhagyanathan, IAS, along with several sportspersons.
