Deputy CM Ajit Pawar Directs Immediate Completion of Four Alternative Roads to Ease Mumbai-Goa Highway Traffic
Mumbai : To alleviate traffic congestion on the Mumbai-Goa National Highway until the completion of the Indapur and Mangaon bypass roadworks, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has directed the urgent completion of four alternative road routes. These include three roads within the Mangaon Municipal limits—Morba Road to Mumbai-Goa Highway, Sainagar Canal Bridge to Uttekhol Canal Village Road, and Nizampur Canal Road to Bhadav Road—as well as the Indapur Canal Road to Vigvali Phata Road on the highway.
Deputy CM Pawar announced that ₹15 crore will be immediately allocated to complete these works. He stressed that action to complete the roads should be taken on a war footing.
A review meeting chaired by Deputy CM Pawar was held via video conferencing in the committee room of the Deputy CM’s office at the Mantralaya to discuss the ongoing work on the Indapur and Mangaon bypasses along the Mumbai-Goa National Highway. Present at the meeting were PWD Minister (Excl. Public Undertakings) Shri Shivrendra Singhraje Bhosale, Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare, MP Sunil Tatkare, Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Rajesh Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary (Planning) Dr. Rajgopal Deora, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) O.P. Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary (PWD) Manisha Mhaiskar, Secretary to the Deputy CM Rajesh Deshmukh, Secretary (Works) Sanjay Dashpute, Konkan Divisional Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi, Raigad District Collector Kisan Jawale, CEO of Raigad Zilla Parishad Neha Bhosale, Raigad SP Anchal Dalal, and officials from the National Highways Authority and Union Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.
Earlier on May 18, Deputy CM Pawar had conducted an aerial and on-ground inspection of the highway work in Raigad district. Following up on the commitments made during that visit, this high-level meeting was convened to discuss traffic bottlenecks in Indapur and Mangaon and the proposed alternative routes.
He assured that for projects that cannot be funded by the National Highway Authority, the state government will provide the necessary funds.
Deputy CM Pawar also instructed the Raigad District Collector and Superintendent of Police to deploy additional manpower and ensure necessary measures are in place to prevent traffic congestion along the highway.
