Implementation of the ‘Chief Minister – My Sister’ scheme at the ward level in the municipal corporation area.
Mumbai, dated 9th: For effective implementation of the ‘Chief Minister – My Sister’ scheme, ward-level committees are being formed in the municipal corporation area. The government directive regarding this has been issued by the Department of Women and Child Development. These committees will help in the effective implementation of this scheme aimed at enhancing women’s economic independence, improving their nutrition and empowering their pivotal roles in the family.
Within the municipal corporations in the state, ward-level structures exist in A+, A, B categories. Accordingly, ward-level committees are being set up. Politically elected members will be the chairperson of these committees. Apart from this, there will be social welfare officers, senior child development project officers (urban), an Anganwadi supervisor (authorized by senior child development project officers), and two politically elected members. The related ward officer will be the secretary of this committee.
There will be a total of three politically elected members in this committee. One of them will be the chairperson. The election of the chairperson and the other two politically elected members will be conducted under the supervision of the respective district ministers. Meetings will be held as required by the committee. It will oversee the planning and implementation of the scheme, ensure regular progress of the scheme’s implementation, and ensure that no eligible beneficiaries are left out from the scheme. It will review received applications, conduct inspections, verify documents attached with applications, and prepare a final list of eligible and ineligible beneficiaries for submission to the district-level committees set up under the chairmanship of the district ministers.
