Yogi govt boosts law & order in UP with 2.16 lakh police recruits in 8 years
Lucknow : In a historic move under the Mission Rozgar initiative, the Yogi government handed over appointment letters to 60,244 newly selected constables on Sunday, marking a significant step towards making Uttar Pradesh a crime-free state and ensuring robust law and order.
Over the past eight years, the government has recruited 2.16 lakh personnel in the Police department alone, underscoring its unwavering commitment to law enforcement and internal security.
The transformative police reforms initiated under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have redefined the image of Uttar Pradesh—from a state once associated with riots and criminal activities to one now recognized for peace, order, and growing investments.
In total, 8.5 lakh youth have been appointed to government jobs through a fair and transparent recruitment process, with 3.75 lakh securing contractual employment. Simultaneously, over two crore youth have found opportunities in the private sector and MSMEs.
With more than 4.21 lakh personnel, the UP Police has emerged as the largest and most powerful force in the country. Reforms under CM Yogi include the successful implementation of the Indian Evidence Act, the Indian Civil Defence Code, and the Indian Judicial Code. Since 2017, the state has established eight new forensic labs, with six more under construction, alongside the premier Forensic Science Institute in Lucknow.
Other states are now adopting the government’s model for compensating damages related to riots. Strict laws have been enacted on issues like cow slaughter, paper leaks, religious conversion, and so-called ‘love jihad’. Special forces such as ATS, STF, SDRF, and SSF have been significantly strengthened.
Under the Safe City Project, lakhs of CCTV cameras have been installed, while helplines like 112, 1090, and 1098 continue to provide timely assistance to lakhs of citizens.
These achievements underscore the Yogi government’s comprehensive approach to policing, youth employment, and governance—positioning Uttar Pradesh as a national model of security and development.
