Department Should Provide Doorstep Veterinary Services: Minister Pankaja Munde
Distribution of Gaushala Registration Certificates
Amravati – With the government’s efforts, farmers are increasingly turning towards animal husbandry. The Animal Husbandry Department must take responsibility for the health and well-being of these animals. If required, the department should also provide doorstep veterinary services, directed Minister for Animal Husbandry, Environment, and Climate Change, Pankaja Munde, during a departmental review meeting held today.

Present at the meeting were senior officials including Dr. Y.S. Wanjari, Dr. Shashikant Kanfade, Dr. Sandeep Ingle, Dr. Shivendra Mahalle, Dr. Sudhir Chaudhar, Dr. Rajendra Pethe, and Dr. Dilip Deshmukh.
Minister Munde emphasized the need to maintain good health standards for livestock. She said efforts are underway to ensure laboratories and veterinary clinics are set up in every district. In particular, doorstep services should be provided at the taluka level. Gaushalas (cow shelters) must have adequate facilities, including fenced enclosures. Animals admitted to these shelters should receive proper medical treatment.
Under the Desi Cow Nourishment Scheme, over 3,000 cows have been provided subsidies. Additionally, under the Human Development Programme, dairy animals are being distributed and beneficiaries are being trained. Minister Munde instructed that records of these distributed animals be maintained and necessary support be extended. Since dairy animals require fodder, arrangements should be made through the Fodder Development Programme. Under the Mahamesh Scheme, benefits have already been provided to 217 beneficiaries, and she asked for special attention to be paid to its implementation. On the occasion, Minister Munde also distributed Gaushala Registration Certificates symbolically to representatives.
Later, she reviewed the performance of the Environment Department. She instructed that wastewater treatment systems in municipal corporation areas should be managed efficiently. Particularly in urban zones, the relevant departments must be advised to establish water treatment centers. The municipal bodies were directed to make arrangements for collecting water required for sewage treatment processes.
Minister Munde also addressed complaints of air and water pollution from industrial areas. She ordered that such complaints be acted upon immediately, and the concerned projects should be asked to take corrective measures. She emphasized that textile industries in Amravati must have proper wastewater treatment systems. Additionally, she acknowledged complaints regarding air pollution from power generation units, and directed that proper planning be done for disposal of ash and sewage emerging from these plants.
