Mahatari Vandan Yojana Boosts Women’s Self-Respect and Self-Reliance
From Forest Regions to Urban Areas, Women Take Confident Steps Toward Empowerment
Raipur : The Mahatari Vandan Yojana, now a historic milestone in the journey of women’s empowerment in Chhattisgarh, has brought a new ray of hope to the lives of millions of women across the state. Launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and the guidance of Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, the scheme has not only offered financial support but also inspired women to lead self-reliant and dignified lives.
Smt. Shanti Nag, a resident of the remote forest area of Chhindgarh in Sukma district, shared how this scheme has brought stability and hope to her once difficult life. Her family, dependent on farming and daily labor, now receives a monthly financial assistance of ₹1,000 under the Mahatari Vandan Yojana, which she says has been a transformational support. Today, Shanti proudly identifies herself as a self-reliant and respected citizen.
According to her, earlier even meeting daily needs was a struggle. But now, this aid has eased household expenses and enabled her to focus on her children’s education and healthcare.
Similarly, beneficiary women from Pujaripal, a dependent village of Chhindgarh, expressed deep satisfaction with the scheme. They shared that this financial support has not only strengthened them economically but also enhanced their identity and status in society. With newfound confidence and a sense of social participation, these women are now playing an active role in improving the well-being of their families.
It is noteworthy that since its launch on 10 March 2024, the Mahatari Vandan Yojana has directly transferred ₹10,433.64 crore into the bank accounts of eligible women. The scheme provides monthly assistance to married, widowed, divorced, and abandoned women between the ages of 21 and 60 years.
Importantly, this initiative goes beyond just financial aid—it has laid a solid foundation for women’s self-reliance. For countless women across Chhattisgarh who once lived amidst deprivation and inequality, the scheme has emerged as a beacon of hope. Today, they are stepping forward as independent, dignified, and empowered members of society.
The Mahatari Vandan Yojana stands as a remarkable example of social transformation, paving the way to self-respect through financial empowerment.
