‘Yoga cures diseases, practice it daily: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav’
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that yoga helps eliminate diseases and brings balance to the body, making it free from disorders. He emphasized that everyone should practice yoga daily to maintain good health. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav highlighted that, thanks to the initiative of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India’s ancient tradition of yoga has gained international recognition, which is why International Yoga Day is now celebrated not just in India, but across the world on June 21. The Chief Minister made these remarks while reviewing the preparations for the 11th International Yoga Day programme, scheduled to be held on June 21, at Samatva Bhavan in his official residence on Tuesday.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that International Yoga Day should be celebrated with full enthusiasm and dedication. Referring to the weather department’s forecast of possible rainfall on the day, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed officials to select a venue for the state-level mass yoga session that is covered from above (with a shade or roof) and can accommodate the maximum number of participants. He emphasized that yoga practice should include everyone—children, youth, the elderly, and women. Proper and well-planned arrangements should be ensured for the yoga programme. There should be no waterlogging at the venue, easy accessibility to the location, and adequate parking facilities must be arranged. The Chief Minister further suggested that, as far as possible, the yoga sessions should be organized in the covered premises of schools, colleges, medical colleges, or other educational institutions.

Rashmi Arun Shami, Additional Chief Secretary, Science and Technology, Shri Sanjay Dubey, Principal Secretary, Culture and Tourism, Shri Sheoshekhar Shukla, Secretary and Commissioner, Public Relations, Dr. Sudam Khade, Secretary, School Education, Dr. Sanjay Goyal, and other officers were present in the meeting.
In the meeting, Principal Secretary AYUSH, Shri D.P. Ahuja, informed that this year’s theme for International Yoga Day, as decided by the Central Government, is “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” He shared that on June 21, International Yoga Day programmes will commence from 6:00 to 6:20 a.m. with local events and speeches by public representatives. From 6:20 to 6:30 a.m., the address of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will be broadcast live from Bhopal, followed by the live telecast of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s address from Visakhapatnam from 6:30 to 7:00 a.m. From 7:00 to 7:45 a.m., group yoga practice following the general yoga protocol will be conducted for all participants. The state-level programme will be organized in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav.
Principal Secretary AYUSH, Shri Ahuja, informed that district-level programmes will be organized at district headquarters under the chief hospitality of ministers, ministers in charge, MPs, and MLAs. To ensure the participation of all government employees, it is proposed to organize yoga sessions in subordinate offices of various government departments, as well as in schools. At the village level, yoga practice programmes will be conducted under the chief hospitality of local public representatives. Prime Minister’s message will be broadcasted across all Gram Panchayats. Yoga sessions will also be organized by Village Water and Sanitation Committees in Gram Panchayats. Additionally, yoga practice programmes will be held in Anganwadis under the Women and Child Development Department and in schools run by the Tribal Affairs Department.
The Principal Secretary of AYUSH informed that the Central Government has proposed to organize mass yoga programmes at 10 major tourist destinations in Madhya Pradesh. These include Amarkantak (in the temple complex), Bhimbetka (in front of the caves parking area), Bhopal (at Kamalapati Palace), Gwalior (near Mansingh Palace), Khajuraho (in the western temple group), Orchha, Sanchi (near Stupa Number One, in the light and sound show area), Mandu (in front of Jahaz Mahal), and Maheshwar.
Principal Secretary AYUSH, Shri Ahuja, informed that as per the instructions of the Central Government, the main programme on June 21 will be celebrated as Yoga Sangam. Public parks will be developed as Yoga Parks, where group yoga practice sessions will be organized. Under Yoga Samvaad, special yoga programmes will be conducted for persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and children. As part of Green Yoga, yoga sessions will be held at prominent natural locations, along with plantation drives and cleanliness campaigns.
