MPs 63.54% houses getting tapped water supply.

Madhya Pradesh has joined the league of top ranking states by ensuring tap water supply to 71 lakh five thousand houses covering 63.54 percent of the targeted houses. The lives of rural women have become easier due to the installation of taps. Many are working as members of village water and sanitation committees as Jal Sakhi.

Water warrior Smt. Anita Chaudhary of Garhmau village of Chhindwara was given the Swachh Sujal Shakti Samman by the President Smt. Draupadi Murmu at Vigyan Bhavan New Delhi recently for excellent implementation and maintenance of the Tap Water Scheme.

Smt. Anita Chaudhary motivated the people of her village for community contribution and collected Rs. 2,88,135 as contribution from all the families of the village for the village water supply scheme. Now Smt. Anita Chaudhary is known as Water Warrior.

Monika Gautam, a student of Tila village of Tila Gram Panchayat of Niwari district says that before the Tap Water Scheme, there was a lot of problem. We had to fetch water from the hand pump located one kilometer away from our house. Many times I was not able to attend school on time. My studies were affected. Ever since tap water has started reaching the village, I am able to go to school on time. I also help my mother in household activities.

Triveni Jatav, a resident of village Ghador in Morena district, says that earlier there were many problems regarding water supply in the village. The villagers used to cover long distances to fetch water with great difficulty, due to which they had to face a lot of problems. The situation of drinking water became very serious in the summer season. Water sources in the village are also limited. Water crisis was persisting due to declining of the water level in the summer season. Since the Narehala Gramin Samridh Jal Praday Yojana came to our village, we have started getting pure drinking water from the tap at home. Pure water has also improved the health of the family members.

Expressing her happiness on getting tap water at the door, Smt. Lalita Bairagi of Padda village of Neemuch district said that the villagers are happy with the tap connection in every house. Earlier, hand pump was the only support. People had to stand in long queues. Many times, they used to struggle a lot to fill water. Padda village once yearned for every drop of water, but Ganga Bawdi Group Water Supply Scheme in Jal Jeevan Mission quenched the thirst of the villagers. Now drinking water is being regularly available at home. The quality of water is also checked continuously with the field testing kit.

Smt. Pushpa Vanskar of village Basai in Datia district says that earlier we had to fetch water from a hand pump on a bicycle by staying awake the entire night. With the Basai Rural Group Water Supply Scheme, we have started getting pure water from the tap at home. Nisha Solanki, a resident of village Kosmi in Sehore district says that in summer the water of the well would dry up, so we had to walk a long distance to fetch water from the river. A lot of our time was wasted. Now the water problem has been resolved. I am able to send my children to school on time. Geeta Prajapati of the same district says that Jal Jeevan Mission has brought prosperity. We are able to cook food on time and do the household activities.. The water problem has been resolved.
