Quick assistance just a call away on Gorakhpur Link Expressway

Patrolling vehicles and GPS-enabled ambulances to ensure safety and emergency support

Gorakhpur : The Gorakhpur Link Expressway has been equipped not only to facilitate seamless travel, but also to ensure safety and swift assistance in emergencies. Passengers can avail immediate help by simply dialing the control room helpline number 14449. Upon calling, GPS-enabled vehicles or ambulances operated by UPEIDA will be dispatched promptly to the location.

To enhance safety and support, a fleet of 15 security vehicles will operate round the clock on the expressway. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will flag off this fleet during the inauguration ceremony at the Bhagwanpur Toll Plaza on Friday. The expressway has been divided into two packages of around 45 km each. For each package, UPEIDA has deployed:
• 2 patrolling vehicles (Innova)
• 2 patrolling campers equipped with safety tools (provided by the construction agencies)
• 2 ambulances for immediate medical aid
• 1 crane for removing damaged vehicles
• 1 hydra vehicle for the entire stretch

This setup ensures continuous 24/7 support along the entire expressway.

Retired IG and UPEIDA’s Nodal Security Officer Rajesh Pandey explained that until the Automated Traffic Management System (ATMS) is installed on the Gorakhpur Link Expressway, the integrated control room of the Purvanchal Expressway will temporarily handle alerts. Any incident reported to the helpline number will be relayed to the nearest patrolling vehicle, ambulance, or crane via this control room.

The GPS-enabled fleet ensures that the control room can trace and dispatch the nearest available vehicle swiftly, minimizing response time in case of emergencies.

In the near future, ATMS will be implemented on the Gorakhpur Link Expressway. This system will include CCTV cameras installed at regular intervals, monitored centrally. It will also feature speed detection cameras, number plate recognition (NPR) systems, and alerts for speed limit violations, further strengthening safety and surveillance on the expressway.
