Yoga Session Held at Chief Minister’s Residence on Thursday
A yoga session was conducted on Thursday at the Chief Minister’s residence premises. On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami performed yoga along with officers and staff of the Chief Minister’s Office.
The Chief Minister urged the people of the state to make yoga a regular part of their daily routine. He said that yoga is not merely a physical exercise but a path to inner peace and self-realization. It calms the mind and helps one reach the depths of consciousness.
Highlighting the significance of Indian culture, the Chief Minister said that India has always upheld human values, and yoga is a fundamental pillar of our eternal (Sanatan) culture. This is why yoga has now become an integral part of daily life for millions around the world, enhancing the global standing of the Indian way of life.
He noted that in 2014, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi proposed at the United Nations General Assembly to declare yoga as an International Day, which was supported by 177 countries, and thus June 21 was declared as International Yoga Day.
The Chief Minister emphasized that Uttarakhand is a land of yoga and sages, and efforts have been made by the government to connect people with yoga even at the village level. Yoga is also helping create new employment opportunities. A new Yoga Policy has been introduced to establish Uttarakhand as the global capital of yoga and wellness.
