International Yoga Day: Over 1 Lakh Participate in Mass Yoga to Promote Physical and Mental Wellness“Yoga Leads to Physical, Mental, and Spiritual Growth” – District In-charge Minister Suresh Singh Rawat

Jaipur – On the occasion of the 11th International Yoga Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, virtually addressing the national celebrations from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, emphasized yoga’s power to unite the world. “For the 11th consecutive year, the world has come together on June 21 to practice yoga,” said the PM. “Yoga means connection, and it is heartening to see how it has connected humanity globally.”

He noted that India is strengthening the scientific foundation of yoga through modern research, with leading medical institutions actively engaged in yoga studies. “We are working to integrate the scientific benefits of yoga into modern medical systems,” he added.


Yoga as a Global Movement of Health, Peace, and Harmony

The PM urged people worldwide to join hands in making yoga a mass movement. “Let’s make yoga a tool for peace, health, and harmony – where each person starts the day with yoga, every society adopts it for stress relief, and yoga becomes a global bond of unity,” he said. The PM also stressed this year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, as a symbol of collective responsibility for planetary health.


District-Level Celebration in Bharatpur: 1 Lakh+ Beneficiaries

In Bharatpur, a large-scale district-level yoga session was organized at Lohagarh Stadium, jointly conducted by the district administration and the Department of Ayurveda. The session featured 12 yoga instructors who led participants through yoga postures and breathing exercises. Citizens, public representatives, and administrative officials took part, following the Common Yoga Protocol.

The event was inaugurated by Water Resources Minister and District In-charge Minister Suresh Singh Rawat, who lit a ceremonial lamp and offered flowers to Lord Dhanvantari.


Yoga for Holistic Health and Ancient Wisdom

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Rawat credited Prime Minister Modi for making International Yoga Day a global celebration. “Yoga promotes physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. It is an ancient Indian practice that balances body and mind,” he said.

Quoting the old adage, “The greatest wealth is a healthy body,” he emphasized the urgent need to adopt yoga in today’s hectic and unhealthy lifestyles. “Let us pledge to make yoga a regular part of our lives to ensure health and vitality,” he urged.

Rawat highlighted the importance of the Lohagarh event in spreading awareness about yoga’s role in achieving disease-free living, noting the mass participation as a sign of increasing public consciousness.


Yoga Celebrated at Tourist and Religious Sites

Yoga sessions were also held at prominent religious and tourist locations across Bharatpur, including:

  • Keoladeo Ghana National Park
  • Ganga Mandir
  • Kishori Mahal
  • Gaurav Beti Park
  • Multi-purpose Hall, Lohagarh Stadium
  • Apna Ghar Ashram, Bajhera

Over 8,000 people participated in the central district event, while across the entire district — at the panchayat and sub-division levelsmore than 1 lakh citizens took part in organized yoga sessions at key locations.


45-Minute Comprehensive Yoga Protocol

According to Dr. Indu Sharma, Deputy Director of Ayurveda and Yoga Coordinator, a 45-minute yoga protocol was conducted at the main event by trainers Keshav Singh and Dr. Priyank Sharma, involving 33 yogic postures and breathing techniques, including:

  • Standing Postures: Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Padahastasana, Ardha Chakrasana, Trikonasana
  • Seated Postures: Bhadrasana, Vajrasana, Ardha Ushtrasana, Ushtrasana
  • Forward Bends & Twists: Shashankasana, Vakrasana
  • Backbends & Prone Postures: Bhujangasana, Shalabhasana, Makarasana, Setubandhasana
  • Supine Postures: Uttanpadasana, Ardha Halasana, Pawanmuktasana, Shavasana
  • Pranayama Techniques: Nadi Shodhan, Anulom Vilom, Sheetali, Bhramari

The program was moderated by Veer Singh Kuntal.
