Media Workshop in Lunglei Focuses on Skill Enhancement and Correct Use of Mizo Language for Modern

Lunglei : In a joint initiative by the Directorate of Information & Public Relations (I&PR) and the Mizoram Journalists’ Association (MJA) General Headquarters, the Lunglei District I&PR Office and Lunglei District MJA today organized a Media Workshop at the Lunglei Press Club. The workshop aimed at enhancing the professional skills of present-day media personnel and promoting the correct usage of the Mizo language.

The workshop brought together a diverse group of media professionals, including I&PR staff, MJA members, news readers of Akashvani Lunglei’s “Aaj Subah”, journalists and anchors from Zonet JB, representatives from Doordarshan Kendra (DDK), and content creators from YouTube.

Lunglei District MJA President Pu H. Lalthansanga presided over the session and expressed gratitude for the successful organization of the event. He spoke about the importance of continuous learning and collaboration among media professionals. Veteran journalist Pu C.S. Chawngchhuma delivered a keynote address to inaugurate the workshop. The session continued with both training and interaction, and Pu F. Lalngaihzuala, Information Secretary of Lunglei District MJA, hosted a brief session of appreciation and encouraged the participants. The workshop concluded with closing remarks by MJA member Pu H. Vanlallawma.

The first session, titled “Traditional Media and New Media,” written by Pu Vanneihtluanga, was delivered by Lunglei District I&PR Officer Pu C. Lalhruaitluanga. It focused on the evolving media landscape, the tools of modern reporting, and how to adapt effectively and efficiently as a journalist in today’s fast-changing environment.

The second session, titled “Correct Mizo Writing Practices,” authored by Dr. H. Laldinmawia, was presented by Pu K. Lalrinpuia, Treasurer of Lunglei District MJA. The session emphasized the importance of proper Mizo language usage in both writing and speech. It also addressed the risks of widespread misuse of language in current media, especially through social media and informal platforms, and stressed the need for language preservation.

The workshop concluded with a vibrant interactive discussion session, allowing participants to engage directly with the topics and share insights.
