Central Government Assures Financial Assistance for Irrigation Projects in Jalgaon District – Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Gulabrao Patil
New Delhi : State Water Supply and Sanitation Minister and Guardian Minister of Jalgaon District, Gulabrao Patil, announced today that the central government has assured financial assistance to complete pending irrigation projects in Jalgaon district. This support will facilitate the implementation of key projects, benefiting the local population.
A review meeting was held today at Antyodaya Bhavan in the capital, focusing on the Central Government-sponsored Jaljeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission. Additionally, a positive discussion took place regarding the completion of pending projects in Jalgaon district. Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil, Union Minister of State V. Somanna, Secretary Vini Mahajan, and other senior central and state officials were present at the meeting.
Minister Patil addressed the media at Maharashtra Sadan after the meeting. He stated that a total of Rs 19,344 crore has been requested from the central government for three irrigation projects: Nimmtapi (Padalse Dam), Girna River, and Tapi Basin recharge in Jalgaon district.
Providing details about the Nimmtapi (Padalse Dam) project, Minister Patil mentioned that Rs 800 crore worth of work has been completed, but an additional Rs 4,055 crore is required. He requested the Union Minister to allocate financial resources for this project, which aims to provide irrigation benefits to a total of 25,692 areas in Amalner, Jamner, Chalisgaon, Pachora, Raver, and Bodwad talukas of Jalgaon. He also requested the project to be included under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Irrigation Scheme.
Minister Patil further demanded approval and funding for the Saat Gubbara Dam project on the Girna River. This project is expected to benefit four talukas: Chalisgaon, Bhadgaon, Pachora, and Jalgaon. He informed that the estimated cost of the project is Rs 3,300 crore and requested the funds be made available under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana.
In addition, Minister Patil sought central government sanction for the Tapi Khore Re-filling Scheme, a joint project between Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. A total central provision of Rs 19,244 crore (60:40 ratio) has been made for this scheme for the year 2022-23, with Maharashtra’s share being Rs 11,544 crore. The project aims to raise the groundwater level in Raver, Yaval, and Chopra talukas.
Minister Patil emphasized that these three irrigation projects will significantly benefit farmers in Jalgaon district, enhancing their productivity. He has urged the central government to provide immediate approval and funding for these projects. Union Minister CR Patil has assured support, according to Guardian Minister Gulabrao Patil.
