PM Modi Turned Swachh Bharat Mission into a Mass Movement; Dungarpur Sets New Benchmark in Cleanliness: CM Bhajan Lal Sharma
Jaipur, May 2026: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has transformed the Swachh Bharat Mission into a nationwide mass movement. He added that cleanliness is not the responsibility of sanitation workers alone, but a collective duty of all citizens. The Chief Minister noted that Mahatma Gandhi envisioned a clean and healthy India, and the Prime Minister has given new momentum to this vision through public participation.
The Chief Minister was addressing a civic felicitation and cleanliness awareness programme in Dungarpur on Thursday. He said that a new awareness is visible across the country regarding toilet construction in rural areas, urban waste management, plastic-free campaigns, and general cleanliness. He emphasised that cleanliness has now become not just a system but also a part of civic culture.
He further said that Dungarpur has given a new identity to the cleanliness movement by turning it into a public celebration of participation. Because of this, the “Dungarpur model” is widely discussed today. He added that the state government is continuously working to make Rajasthan clean and environmentally friendly, with the clear goal of making the state one of the leading states in cleanliness and civic amenities along with development.
Modern waste processing systems being developed
The Chief Minister said that solid waste management in the state is being strengthened. Modern waste processing systems are being developed in cities, while door-to-door garbage collection systems are being made more efficient.
