Injustice against the poor is unacceptable: CM Yogi
Ghazipur : During his visit to Ghazipur on Tuesday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a comprehensive review meeting with officials and public representatives at the Collectorate auditorium. He assessed the status of development projects, revenue administration, and law and order. While the District Magistrate briefed him on developmental and revenue-related progress, the Superintendent of Police gave an update on the law and order situation.
CM Yogi directed officials to address public grievances with seriousness, sensitivity, and based on merit. Appreciating the district’s efforts in resolving revenue disputes, he emphasised the importance of ensuring that no case remains pending and reiterated that no injustice should be done to the poor.
Commending Ghazipur’s One District One Product (ODOP) item—Jute Wall Hanging—he stressed the importance of promoting products made by women self-help groups and ensuring market access for them.
The Chief Minister also instructed officials to ensure that the funds provided under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana are utilised to complete housing construction. He emphasized that all eligible beneficiaries should receive benefits under pension schemes, and the Jal Jeevan Mission must provide uninterrupted clean drinking water in rural areas without unnecessary road cutting during pipeline work.
Highlighting education reforms, CM Yogi informed that funds have been transferred via DBT for purchasing uniforms, bags, and other essentials for council school children. Teachers must coordinate with parents to ensure timely purchases and work to bring the student dropout rate to zero.
He also reviewed the power supply situation and directed the timely replacement of transformers in both urban and rural areas. Citizens should be made aware of the toll-free helpline 1912 to report electricity-related issues, he pointed out.
Inspecting the under-construction nursing college at the medical college, CM Yogi directed officials to complete the work within deadlines while maintaining quality. Under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, he set a target to make Ghazipur TB-free by December 2025. He urged all public representatives, officials, teachers, and staff to adopt at least one TB patient and provide them with Poshan Potli.
In light of the upcoming mass plantation drive in July, CM Yogi called for active participation from public representatives in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign to promote environmental awareness and greenery.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during his review meeting in Ghazipur, issued a strong directive to police officials to adopt a zero-tolerance approach against land, mining, and forest mafias, as well as other criminal elements. He instructed that a top-10 list of notorious criminals be prepared in each district and stringent action be taken against them. The Superintendent and Additional Superintendent of Police must closely monitor FIRs and the progress of investigations, he stated.
He emphasized effective prosecution, especially in cases related to POCSO, crimes against women, and other serious offenses, ensuring that criminals fear the law. The Chief Minister also ordered that accountability be fixed at police stations regarding animal smuggling, prompt action in cases of religious conversion, and stronger implementation of Mission Shakti. He further directed officials to ensure that upcoming festivals, including the Kanwar Yatra, are celebrated peacefully and traditionally.
District Magistrate Avinash Kumar stated that the district’s combined ranking in May 2025 at the state level for revenue and development works is 33. A total of 121 projects worth Rs 1078.59 crore have been completed, while 78 projects worth Rs 1477.57 crore are currently under construction.
Under the Jal Jeevan Mission (Har Ghar Jal) scheme, 462,930 has been achieved against the target of 515,428. Out of 434 projects of the Public Works Department, worth Rs. 24064.72 lakh, 277 projects have been completed, while 157 projects are under construction. Under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, out of 19 works worth Rs. 13895.16 lakh, 10 works are completed and 09 are under construction.
In view of the possible flood in the district, all the formalities for relief and rescue work have been completed. Under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, till now the Central Government has paid Rs. 1614.33 crore to 465110 farmers of the district through a total of 19 installments. Till now a total of 733 farmers have been benefited from PM Kusum Yojana. In the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, compensation of Rs 20.34 lakh has been paid to 389 farmers in Kharif year 2024.
The DM stated that there are a total of 65 cow shelters in the district, which protect 6,535 cattle. From fodder, water, and treatment, everything has been handed over to the cattle rearers under the Pradhan Mantri Sahbhagita Yojana. It is also being continuously monitored.
The district’s target for plantation in 2025 is 41,14,100. The process of selection of 7664 sites has been completed. For innovation, a dense forest is being established with the Miyawaki method at km 9.5-11.5 on the Greenfield Expressway. Amrit Sarovar, sports ground, Annapurna Bhawan, Panchayat Bhawan have been constructed in the district under the MGNREGA scheme. There is 48 percent participation of women in MGNREGA. Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), 80248 houses have been completed for the beneficiaries against the target of 80526, and the remaining 248 houses are under construction. The target of PM Awas (Urban) is 11134. In comparison to this, 10511 houses have been completed. Under Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana (Rural), the total number of completed houses is 98.63 per cent, fulfilling the target of 12,813. In the Fifth State Finance Commission, the amount available is 29.83 crores against the amount of 37.46 crores and the remaining amount for expenditure is Rs 07.62 crore. In Panchayat Bhawan construction, 713 are in progress against the target of 725. In Operation Kayakalp, 2226 have been fulfilled against the target of 2266.
Under the School Chalo Abhiyan, 2.09 lakh children were enrolled, including 26,863 new students. As part of the NIPUN Bharat Mission, 1,101 schools were declared NIPUN based on assessments conducted by DIET trainees across 1,916 primary and composite schools.
The District Magistrate also briefed the Chief Minister on the overall progress of flagship government schemes and ongoing initiatives aimed at inclusive development and public welfare.
Before this, District Magistrate Avinash Kumar, Superintendent of Police Dr. Iraj Raja, and women from the self-help group welcomed the Chief Minister by presenting him with a “One District-One Product” jute wall hanging. On this occasion, Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh, Panchayati Raj and Minority Department Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar, District In-charge Minister Ravindra Jaiswal, Rajya Sabha MP Neeraj Shekhar, Sangeeta Balwant, Jakhania MLA Bediram, District Panchayat President Sapna Singh etc. were present.
