Fake Ticket Examiners Detected at Barddhaman Station: Swift Action by Commercial Staff of Howrah Division.

In a significant step towards upholding the integrity of railway operations, the Commercial Department of Howrah Division successfully detected two individuals impersonating Ticket Examiners at Barddhaman station. The incident occurred around 11:30 hours on 25.06.2025, when the vigilant and proactive approach of Shri Balyogeshwar Prasad, TIC/Barddhaman, along with Shri Prem Kumar Paswan, Head TE/Barddhaman, and Shri Purushottam Kumar, CCTC/Barddhaman, led to the identification of suspicious behaviour on the Foot Over Bridge (FOB) at the station.

Upon closely observing the activities of the two individuals who were checking tickets, the officials approached and conducted an immediate on-the-spot inquiry regarding their appointment credentials and service details. The subsequent verification process revealed that both persons were engaged under fake appointments and had no legitimate association with Indian Railways.

Recognising the seriousness of the matter, the imposters were promptly handed over to the RPF/Barddhaman for detailed investigation and further legal action. This prompt action underscores the commitment of Howrah Division to maintaining transparency, discipline, and passenger trust within the railway system.

RPF Cyber Cell Achieves Success Using CEIR Portal: Stolen Mobile Phone Recovered.

In a major step forward following the recent empowerment of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to access the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, the RPF Zonal Cyber Cell of Eastern Railway has achieved a significant breakthrough by recovering a stolen mobile phone—marking one of the first success stories under this new initiative.

On 24th May 2025, Anjar Islam, a passenger traveling from Katihar to Sealdah by Train No. 13170, reported the loss of his mobile phone after discovering it was missing upon arrival. Acting promptly, he contacted Railway Helpline 139 and registered a complaint via the Rail Madad platform.

An alert RPF officer immediately guided the complainant to fill out the CEIR portal form, a crucial step that enables authorities to digitally block and trace lost or stolen mobile devices. As per the updated guidelines authorizing RPF to take action through the CEIR system, the RPF Zonal Cyber Cell initiated digital surveillance to trace the device.

Using advanced digital tools and strategic communication, the team successfully located the person currently in possession of the phone and persuaded them to voluntarily surrender it. The recovered mobile was handed over to the RPF Post at Ranaghat.

After verification of ownership and identity, the phone was officially returned to Shri Anjar Islam, who expressed deep gratitude to the RPF Cyber Cell for their quick and efficient action.

This recovery reflects the RPF’s evolving digital capability in combating cyber-related thefts and delivering technology-driven solutions to passenger grievances. It also reinforces public trust in the responsiveness, professionalism, and adaptability of the Railway Protection Force in the digital age.

Eastern Railway remains steadfast in its mission to ensure safety, authenticity, and accountability across all departments and warns against any attempts to exploit public services through fraudulent means.
