Minister of State Meghana Bordikar Reviews Operations of Maharashtra Energy Department
Focus on Solar Pumps for Farmers and Effective Power Generation & Conservation Initiatives
Mumbai : Minister of State for Energy Meghana Bordikar reviewed the functioning of key power companies—MSEDCL (Mahavitaran), MahaTransco, and MahaGenco—and directed officials to fulfill farmers’ demand for solar-powered pumps. She emphasized the need for these agencies to implement electricity generation and energy-saving initiatives effectively.
The review meeting took place at HSBC Bank building, Fort, Mumbai, where the Minister assessed the ongoing and planned initiatives by the state’s major power companies.
Present during the meeting were senior officials including Executive Director of MahaTransco Satish Chavan, Project Director Avinash Nimbalkar, Executive Director Suchitra Bhikane, Chief Engineer Piyush Sharma, Finance Director Balasaheb Thite, Operations Director Sanjay Marudkar, Project Director Abhay Harne, and Executive Director Nitin Wagh.
Minister Meghana Bordikar took stock of the status of electricity generation projects run by the three companies and reviewed the renewable energy and power conservation programs being implemented by the department.
Special focus was given to schemes vital for farmers such as:
- Mukhyamantri Saur Krishi Vahini Yojana (Chief Minister’s Solar Agricultural Feeder Scheme)
- “Demand-based Agricultural Pump Scheme”, and
- Various Central and State Government-sponsored energy programs
Detailed presentations were made on each of these schemes, highlighting the department’s efforts to boost rural electrification, ensure timely access to energy solutions for farmers, and promote sustainability through renewable sources.
