Emergency Was a Deep Blow to Democracy : CM Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the Emergency, imposed from the midnight of June 25, 1975, was a deep blow to our democracy. It was the murder of the Constitution and democracy. It was a dark chapter in the country’s democratic history, which the nation will never forget. It is important to inform the new generation about the dictatorship of that time, and for this reason, as per the directions of the central government, we are all observing June 25 as Constitution Murder Day.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was speaking while participating in a dialogue programme titled “Desh Ke Dil Ki Baat” organized by a private media group.
In the dialogue programme, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav discussed in detail the achievements made by the state government in the last 18 months through welfare schemes and innovations. He said that we are making Madhya Pradesh economically prosperous. Look at the self-reliance of Madhya Pradesh—Delhi Metro is running on our electricity. In the year 2025–26, the state’s per capita income has reached nearly 1.55 lakh rupees. In 2002–03, it was only 11,000 rupees.
He said that we are moving ahead with a determined goal to open medical colleges in 50 districts of the state in the next two years. We are moving from heritage to development. Apart from schemes in the names of brave heroes and immortal martyrs who brought glory to the country, our government has also honored Rani Durgavati of Gondwana, the great administrator of the Holkar State Lokmata Devi Ahilya Bai, and Raja Bhabhut Singh of Narmadanchal through cabinet resolutions.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that very soon, our government is going to hold a cabinet meeting in sacred memory of Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister the late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
He said that ours is the only state in the country where the government is paying the fees of students from poor backgrounds pursuing medical education. Our government has taken just one promise from these bright students—that after becoming doctors, they will serve in the rural areas of the state.
Through this, three objectives of the government are being fulfilled. First, we are giving the poor section of society the opportunity to receive higher education. Second, we are freeing poor students from the worry of paying fees. And third, and most important, we are ensuring the availability of doctors in rural areas and improving health services.
He said that our government has decided that if in any remote area a patient urgently needs to be taken to a higher medical institution, and if there is an airport or airstrip nearby, then PM Air Ambulance service will be provided; and if there is no airstrip, then the patient will be transported via helicopter service to the nearest higher health center in time.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that through the Chief Minister Ladli Bahna Yojana, efforts have been made to address social inequality. More than one lakh Ladli sisters in the state are receiving monthly assistance from us. Their purchasing power has increased due to this. Now they are not dependent on anyone for their personal expenses. We have also increased the budget of the Women and Child Development Department.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that we are also focusing on the development of Bhopal’s Upper Lake. Very soon, 10 shikara boats will be operating here. Our plan is to run 20 boats. Along with water tourism like in Dal Lake, our government is also working to promote trade and business through these boats.
At the beginning of the program, the media group’s editor Dr. Indushekhar Pancholi welcomed Chief Minister Dr. Yadav. The digital head and editor of the media group, Mr. Jaideep Karnik, conducted the dialogue programme.
During the programme, ten social workers who have done remarkable work in water conservation were honoured. The event was also attended by Gorakhpur MP Shri Ravi Kishan Shukla and motivational speaker Shri Amogh Leela Das.
