Gwalior-Chambal Will Become a New Hub of Industry and Employment : CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that the Gwalior-Chambal region has been gifted with a major rail facility, enabling residents to travel directly to Bengaluru from Gwalior by train. This is a special gift for the youth. The weekly Gwalior–Bengaluru train will significantly benefit students pursuing education in the IT sector.

CM Dr. Yadav virtually inaugurated the new train service from Jabalpur on Thursday. Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw also joined the event virtually. The formal ceremony in Gwalior was attended by Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, Speaker of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Energy Minister Shri Pradyuman Singh Tomar senior public representatives, railway officials, and a large number of citizens.

The Chief Minister stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Madhya Pradesh has received numerous railway development projects. Around 80 railway stations in the state, including Gwalior, are being renovated. He added that the initiative for improved rail connectivity in the Gwalior region began during the tenure of the late Union Minister Shri Madhavrao Scindia, and the new Gwalior-Bengaluru train continues that legacy.

Cabinet Meeting to be Held in Gwalior

CM Dr. Yadav announced that to honour the contributions of late Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia and to commemorate the birth centenary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a cabinet meeting will soon be organized in Gwalior.

Gwalior-Chambal to Become a New Industrial Hub

Highlighting the joint efforts of the Central and State Governments, the Chief Minister said that the Gwalior-Chambal region is witnessing new milestones in employment, industry, and education, especially on the occasion of Atalji’s birth centenary year. He emphasized that this region is poised to become a new hub of industry and employment, with railway and air connectivity being enhanced for both Gwalior and the Malwa region.

Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw termed the new Gwalior–Bengaluru train a significant gift for the region. It will especially benefit youth pursuing careers in IT. He informed that over Rs. 24,000 crore worth of railway projects have been approved for Madhya Pradesh in the past year, including renovation of more than 80 railway stations and flyover construction. He also said that a passenger train between Gwalior and Agra is under consideration, and the ministry will make efforts to facilitate travel for devotees to Ujjain during the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh.

Union Minister Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia called it a historic day for Gwalior, as the new rail link will now directly connect the city to South India. He highlighted the connection between Bengaluru’s railway station—named after legendary engineer Sir M. Visvesvaraya—and the Tigra Dam, designed by the same engineer, which continues to serve Gwalior’s water needs. The new train will benefit around 4 million citizens of Gwalior, Shivpuri, Guna, and Ashoknagar. He added that efforts are also underway to connect Gwalior to Kota via rail.

Speaker Shri Narendra Singh Tomar said Gwalior has received a major gift with this new train service. He informed that the station will undergo renovation at a cost of Rs. 482 crore, transforming it into a grand and well-equipped terminal. He also urged that new train services from Gwalior to Etawah be initiated, to establish a direct link with Lucknow.

Energy Minister Shri Pradyuman Singh Tomar said under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Railway Minister Vaishnaw, Gwalior is receiving transformative development, including a new railway station, airport, and elevated road. These projects will significantly reshape the region’s future.

MPs Shri Bharat Singh Kushwah, Shri Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya, Shri Vivek Narayan Shejwalkar, and Shri Anoop Mishra also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi, Railway Minister Vaishnaw, and Chief Minister Dr. Yadav for granting this new rail service to the Gwalior-Chambal region.
