Both Previous GRs on Third Language Cancelled; ₹3600 Cr Approved for ‘Ladki Bahin Yojana’; 12 Bills to be Introduced in Monsoon Session
Mumbai – Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday announced that a committee chaired by Dr. Narendra Jadhav will be formed to conduct a comprehensive study of the Three-Language Formula in line with the National Education Policy (NEP), ensuring that any future decision is made in the best interest of students.
He also declared that the two Government Resolutions (GRs) dated April 16 and June 17, 2025, regarding the third language, stand cancelled until the committee submits its report.
Addressing media at Sahyadri Guest House alongside Deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Fadnavis shared details about the upcoming Monsoon Session of the State Legislature, starting June 30 in Mumbai. He stated that the session will run for three weeks, with 12 new bills, along with one pending bill and one under review by a joint committee. Six ordinances will also be tabled.
The CM reaffirmed that Marathi remains compulsory in all schools from Class 1, and that Hindi is not being made mandatory. He emphasized that Maharashtra’s progress and citizen welfare remain the government’s top priorities.
Fadnavis also noted that rainfall in June has been satisfactory, and sowing operations are underway. The government is addressing fertilizer and seed supply complaints in some areas.
Focus on Public Welfare, Economic Growth, and Student Rights
Deputy CM Eknath Shinde reiterated the government’s commitment to respect public sentiment and resolve citizens’ issues. He highlighted Maharashtra’s leadership in start-ups, GDP, and foreign investments, including ₹20 lakh crore worth of MoUs signed at Davos, 70–80% of which are already in implementation.
He assured that Dr. Jadhav’s committee will make balanced decisions on the language policy keeping student welfare in focus. He also informed that the second phase of the Nanaji Deshmukh Agricultural Sanjeevani Yojana has been approved.
₹3600 Crore for ‘Ladki Bahin Yojana’: Amount to be Credited from Tomorrow
Deputy CM Ajit Pawar said ₹3600 crore has been approved for the next installment of the ‘Ladki Bahin Yojana’, aimed at women’s empowerment. Beneficiaries will begin receiving the amount directly into their bank accounts from June 30.
He added that all bills tabled in the assembly will be thoroughly debated, ensuring no legislation is passed without discussion. Lawmakers will be given ample time to raise constituency concerns, and the government is committed to utilizing every minute of the session productively.
Pawar further shared that water levels in state reservoirs are healthy due to early monsoon rains, though some regions have experienced rain-related damage. Assessments are underway, and the government stands firmly behind the farming community.
