Opening of Animal Husbandry Diploma Institutes in Rajasthan to Become Easier – Ministerial Sub-Committee Recommends Policy Amendments
Opening two-year animal husbandry diploma institutes in Rajasthan is set to become easier. Acting under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the ministerial sub-committee has proposed key amendments to the Departmental Process/Guidelines/Policy-2022 for establishing and operating such institutes. Once the revised Policy-2025 is implemented, the process of opening diploma colleges in this field will be streamlined.
The meeting of the sub-committee, chaired by its convener and Cabinet Minister for Animal Husbandry, Cow Rearing, Devasthan, and Dairy Shri Zoraram Kumawat, was held on Tuesday and focused on seven major discussion points. Committee members Shri Sumit Godara, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, and Shri Jawahar Singh Bedham, Minister of State for Home, Cow Rearing, Animal Husbandry, Dairy, and Fisheries, suggested specific amendments during the discussion. Following a consensus among all members, the recommendations will now be forwarded to Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma for approval.
Convener Shri Zoraram Kumawat stated that the discussion included provisions regarding the applicant institution’s name, total land requirements, registration and inspection fees, mandatory CCTV and biometric systems, seat increases, and NOC requirements for private universities. He added that partial amendments to the existing Policy-2022, with the Chief Minister’s approval, will pave the way for the implementation of the new Policy-2025.
Once the revised policy is in effect, the online application process for opening new animal husbandry diploma institutes will be launched. Currently, 81 institutes affiliated with the Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Bikaner, are offering the two-year diploma program. Of these, four institutes located in Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, and Jaipur are government-run. Each year, these institutions collectively graduate over 5,000 para-veterinarians.
To meet growing demand, more diploma institutes will be established across the state after amending the current policy. The meeting was also attended by Santosh Karol, Deputy Secretary of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries; Dr. Anand Sejra, Director of the Animal Husbandry Department; and other departmental officials.
